A note from our Artistic Director

Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters of womanSong,

Please join womanSong for our concert Ireland Calls on May 3, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Christ Church United Methodist Church in Charleston, WV. As womanSong prepares for our June trip to Ireland, we look forward to sharing many traditional Irish tunes and arrangements with you. Our program includes ”Dúlamán” sung in the Irish language and a set of ballads arranged by Mark D. Templeton with accompaniment by Angela Jones, Rob Hudson, and Lois Coffey. We are also excited to sing “Ireland’s Call” by Phil Coulter, traditionally sung at Irish sport events.

On behalf of the members of womanSong Chorale of WV, I would like to thank our audience for their continued support during this past season. For more than 25 years, womanSong has performed in the Kanawha Valley, in other parts of West Virginia, throughout the United States, and in other countries. With your support, we are able to share our music with our Charleston audience and collaborate with other ensembles. We are pleased to bring vocal arts to so many venues. Giving the gift of music to our community will remain our focus this season as part of the womanSong mission.

womanSong chorale of West Virginia is the only all-female community choir in West Virginia. womanSong brings local female singers together in a community that shares a commitment to excellence in musicianship and a passion for performing. Under the direction of Jeanette Bowlby, womanSong incorporates traditional, classical, contemporary, and multicultural styles of music into concert repertoire and highlights works by female composers.

womanSong is more than just a chorus. We're a family. Every rehearsal is a chance to catch up with friends, and every performance is a time to share our love of music with our audience and with each other. We have had many fantastic opportunities to travel for performances and spend time outside of rehearsal together, and we think our friendship helps us perform at our very best.

womanSong rehearses and performs primarily in the Charleston, West Virginia area, occasionally collaborating with other local musicians. The members of womanSong come from various backgrounds and occupations but are united by the goal of bringing beautiful music to West Virginia and sharing West Virginia's musical talent with the world.
